Safety glass laminated panels for
rainscreen facades
Chromatics RS is an exterior grade, lightweight, 100% opaque, and coloured shatterproof safety glass laminate cladding panel. For the first time It allows the facade designer to use a colour coated glass laminate that is thermally safe for external applications with a superior reflected image quality with zero light transmission and no possibility of 'show through' and no roller wave
The organic coating used in the patented Chromatics RS manufacturing process forms an inter-molecularly bonded product that is a unique laminate of glass, colour and metal resulting in a durable shatterproof composite panel
Chromatics RS has a flawless flat finish with no roller wave distortion or pinholes (often present in traditional ceramic-coated toughened glass)
Chromatics RS - A lightweight glass facade material - Uses float glass rather than toughened glass (traditionally used in external applications) and has not therefore been subject to high processing temperatures (600 + Degrees) normally used in the toughening and ceramic coating process
Chromatics RS is a laminate of glass and aluminium foil - Chromatics RS is therefore substantially more resistant to point impact than toughened glass and even if broken, will remain intact until easily and safely replaced - The product is tested by Wintech to BSEN12600 3(b)3 standard as required for all critical areas (Chromatics complying with BS EN 12600 2(b)2 and 1(b)1 have been fully tested and are available to special order
Chromatics RS will be supplied as a cut and edged panel under factory controlled conditions
6mm Chromatics weighs 15kg
Maximum panel size 3000 x 1200 mm
Minimum panel size 600 x 300 mm
Colour / Design options unique to Glass facades
Any colour in the RAL spectrum can be achieved with precise colour replication every time as the organic pigments used are not burnt in the low energy process
Green credentials
Recyclability: Chromatics RS is a 'green' option being made entirely from renewable resources, requiring much less energy to produce than toughened glass
Other advantages of using Chromatics RS
in façades
Substantial savings in the facades weight can be made while achieving very durable, low maintenance, high quality finishes in any colour or image
The unique foil layer of the Chromatics RS composite panel dissipates any temperature difference safely across and around the whole panel rendering it thermally safe
Chromatics RS is the result of over 15 years intensive R&D. It has been extensively tested at Pilkington's Technology Centre, Lathom Laboratories and Taylor Woodrow technology (Taywood) and Wintech <See Downloads>
Chromatics RS is completely opaque and therefore suitable for structural bonding. It has been fully tested with SikaTack Structural bonding and Eurofox Engineering Systems components - <See Downloads>
Chromatics RS process can be applied to a wide range of glass types including self cleaning glass providing a virtually maintenance free façade Most forms of glass feedstock can be used including low iron, clear float and self cleaning
Can be structurally bonded either on site or under factory controlled conditions
Wind loading: Taywood - Serviceability Passed at 2400Pa and Safety Passed at 3600Pa - CWCT approved
Impact resistance: Chromatics RS conforms to BSEN 12600 (safety glass)
Weather resistance to BS EN 12453 and BS 3900

Safety: Chromatics RS is a shatterproof safety glass. Should a Chromatics panel be broken in a glazed situation it will remain in place until it can be removed safely and a new panel installed
The laminated panel will often remain watertight with no harmful fragments of broken glass falling (Wintec) Click here to view shatterproof animations and videos
Specifier Note : Fixing arrangements / Substrate: As part of our duty of care we draw your attention to the material weight and the need to ensure that prior to using the material on a scheme that suiatable arrangements have been underwritten by a Structural Engineer - Ensuring appropriate allowance for factors of safety, the substrate to which the Chromatics RS and it's support structure are to be assembled, must be of sufficient strength and integrity to accommodate the static and dynamic loads that will be applied to the primary fixings securing the facade to the substrate - Please consult the project Structural Engineer
